Am I eligible to make a finger injury claim?

If you suffered a finger injury that you believe was caused by third party negligence, you may be eligible to make a claim.

You will need to prove with evidence that the injury you sustained was due to the fault of someone else. As well as this, you will also need to show that the third party owed you a duty of care i.e. an employer.

Claims must also be made within three (3) years of the injury being sustained. In cases where the onset of the injury isn’t until years after the work that caused the injury was carried out e.g. vibration white finger, this three year limit applies from the date when the injury was diagnosed.

How much could you claim for finger injury compensation?

The compensation you may receive from a finger injury claim depends on various factors. Which finger is injured impacts the amount of compensation received. The thumb, middle and index fingers are considered to be more crucial to carrying out everyday tasks and so damage to either of these fingers generally results in a greater payout.

The severity of the injury, the length of recovery time, age of the victim and any residual damage/disability also impact the amount of compensation received.

Our injury claims calculator estimates how much compensation could be awarded for various finger injuries:

Total loss of or loss of use of three or more fingers:

    £30,000 to £50,000

Total loss of or loss of use of two fingers:

    up to £25,000

Total loss of or loss of use of one thumb:

    up to £25,000

The injury claims calculator is intended as a guide only.

What types of compensation are you entitled to if you injure your finger?

In a finger injury claim, there are two types of compensation available to you.

The first covers the pain and suffering you have experienced (general damages) and the second covers any financial losses and expenses e.g. loss of earnings from taking time off work you have endured as a result of the injury (special damages).

Our compensation calculator above covers only general damages, therefore, the payout you receive could rise substantially. For a full consultation on your claim and what you could expect to receive, contact Grieves Solicitors today.
