What is a Metatarsal Injury?
There are five metatarsal bones, these are the long bones of the mid foot, positioned between the toes and the back of the foot, a fracture to the metatarsal occurs when one of these long bones is broken. These bones are important for movement in the feet and breaking or fracturing one of the five can be extremely painful.
Should you injure a metatarsal, you will likely require a cast, causing significant disruption to your day-to-day life.
This injury can occur from something as simple as twisting your foot when stepping unevenly or may occur from more violent injuries such as a fall, work accident, or car accident that crush the metatarsals.
How much could you claim?
Awareness of metatarsal injuries has increased following a string of such injuries suffered by high-profile footballers. Sport is not the only cause of the injury, however, as metatarsals are often broken when a heavy object is dropped onto a person’s foot, or when an individual walks into a large object.
If you have suffered this type of injury and it was the fault of someone else, you may be entitled to claim compensation.
|The amount awarded is dependent on the severity of the injury, but the most serious victims can be awarded anything between||
£19,000 and £30,000
