What is a Metatarsal Injury?

There are five metatarsal bones, these are the long bones of the mid foot, positioned between the toes and the back of the foot, a fracture to the metatarsal occurs when one of these long bones is broken. These bones are important for movement in the feet and breaking or fracturing one of the five can be extremely painful.
